Joining Sainsbury's as a Finance Manager for Digital Transformation offers the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the financial success of our rapidly growing Digital business, including our Groceries Online and Food on Demand propositions. As a trusted partner to the Digital and Transformation leadership team, you will drive top‑line growth, improve profitability, and contribute to the strategic planning and development of innovative solutions. Collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders, you will have the chance to influence decision‑making, drive value, and support sustainable growth within a dynamic and forward‑thinking environment.
What You'll Do
- You will serve as a trusted Finance Business Partner to the Digital and Transformation leadership team, offering commercial insights and actionable recommendations to drive top‑line growth, improve profitability, support cost‑saving targets, and manage risks and opportunities within the Groceries Online and Food on Demand propositions.
- You will collaborate across various departments to deliver strategic and financial plans, develop robust business cases for investment opportunities, drive accurate forecasting and planning processes, identify and manage risks and opportunities, and translate complex data into clear insights to enhance performance and decision‑making.
- Additionally, you will support the Digital transformation agenda, partner with procurement teams, cover for the Head of Finance when necessary, and contribute to ad‑hoc projects as needed, all while maintaining strong financial controls and prioritising deliverables in alignment with corporate expectations.
Who You Are
You are a professionally qualified accountant with a proven track record of driving financial performance and providing strategic insights, ideally within the Retail industry. With your strong commercial acumen, excellent communication skills, and ability to build robust investment cases, you play a key role in shaping the financial success of Sainsbury's Digital business. Your data‑curious mindset, resilience and proactive approach allow you to navigate complex data, influence decision‑making, and drive sustainable growth while maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring accuracy in financial planning and forecasting.
Essential Criteria
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA)
- Demonstrable commercial finance experience, including applying financial insight to influence business decisions and support financial performance
- Proven experience building and evaluating investment and business cases, including financial modelling, appraisal and recommendations
- Demonstrable ability to maintain effective financial controls, ensuring accuracy, compliance and robust governance
- Evidence of analysing and interpreting data to generate insights, including communicating findings clearly to senior stakeholders, with experience using analytics or visualisation tools where applicable
