As a Buying Assistant for Lego® at Sainsbury's, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive administrative support to the Buying team, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and within company timelines to drive overall performance in the Lego® category. You will implement promotional plans, analyse customer reviews and competitor pricing, and respond to internal and external stakeholder queries and changes on behalf of the buying team. You will also contribute to promotional and events planning administration, negotiate and source activities, manage product set‑up and launch, perform trading analysis, manage financials, support the team, and ensure data integrity and accuracy in all tasks assigned. Regular visits to the Lego® head offices in Slough and London are also part of the role.
You are a detail‑oriented and proactive professional with a strong focus on providing comprehensive administrative support to the Buying team. You have a keen interest in market trends, competitor landscapes, and the financial implications of decision‑making, and you excel in executing pricing and promotional plans, maintaining data integrity, and contributing to the overall success of the category through effective negotiation and stakeholder management. Your ability to analyse data, prioritise tasks, and communicate effectively enables you to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, deliver exceptional customer service, and drive continuous improvement within the team.
Essential Criteria- Demonstrable background in Buying or Supply Chain, with experience operating in a commercial retail environment.
- Proven experience managing supplier relationships and leading negotiations, with a track record of delivering value through commercial agreements.
- Ability to manage complex stakeholder interactions, demonstrating resilience and confidence in challenging conversations and decision‑making.
- High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy across commercial, operational, and supplier‑related activity.
- Experience managing relationships with branded suppliers, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and category performance.
