We’re looking for Shift Managers who can deliver excellent service to our customers through capable leadership of teams within the complex, unionised, Distribution function. Your previous experience within a Logistics operation should enable you to engage, motivate and coach colleagues at all levels. You will be able to drive a strong team culture with a unified vision: delivering the best possible service to our customers.
We’re currently recruiting for a Shift Manager on a permanent contract, working in our busy Logistics operation on an average of 42 hours per week on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, rotating days & nights, with the flexibility to fit the needs of the operation where required.
OverviewThis role is key to ensuring the success of the operation achieving and exceeding its KPIs. Reporting directly to the Operations Support Manager, with direct responsibility for the Warehouse and Transport Operation.
Key duties and accountabilities:- Responsible for proactively managing the shift to action the daily operational plan and meet targets within budgetary constraints.
- Apply a consistent approach to people management.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are applied consistently.
- Manage change as and when the business requires.
- Ensure the site meets legal compliance at all times.
- Ensure that employees are managed in a consistent way in line with current processes to help achieve business and personal growth.
- Encourage continuous improvement to become part of operational daily activity.
- Achieve and exceed KPIs in line with the business goals.
- Lead a culture where Health and Safety is part of our daily activities.
- Ensure company policies and government legislations are adhered to.
- Ensure all Health and Safety incidents/accidents are investigated, recorded and appropriate action is taken.
- Communicate effectively to internal and external customers.
- Supply accurate information on operational status as and when required including shift handover.
- Mentor and develop your team to aid progression, succession planning and skill sets.
- Ability to influence at all levels.
- Effectively communicate at all levels in a variety of formats.
- IOSH.
- Previous experience of working in a transport/warehouse environment.
- Previous working knowledge of Warehouse management systems.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages.
- CPC National/International desirable but not essential.
- Pre-planned shifts.
