We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work–life balance. That’s waiting for you at Sainsbury’s. We’re the first to say we do HR differently here. For a start, we work as business partners and specialists. Whether that’s making sure nearly 150,000 colleagues are paid on time, or shaping a strategy that helps us attract the right people, put them in the right place, and unlock their potential. This is a fast-moving business, and our policies and rewards evolve with it. That’s why we’re as flexible as we can be about where and when you work. We’re also flexible about your future. There’s always room to move up or across, if that’s what you want. We really value different perspectives, so there’s no one opinion, no single path, and yours matters.
Location: London or Coventry, Home & Field - please note you will travel to our southern geographically dispersed depots approximately 2-3 days a week.
About The Team: Our Supply Chain and Logistics teams play a critical role in keeping Sainsbury’s moving – safely, efficiently and with colleagues firmly at the heart of everything we do. Sitting within the People Division, this team partners closely with leaders across our logistics and supply chain operations to deliver people plans that enable performance, growth and positive colleague experiences at scale. You’ll be joining a collaborative, commercially minded People team working in a fast‑paced, operational environment, where your impact will be visible and meaningful. This position is pivotal in supporting one of Sainsbury’s largest and most vital operational communities—serving thousands of colleagues across our distribution and transport network. You’ll partner with senior leaders to deliver People initiatives efficiently and at scale, ensuring our colleagues remain at the heart of everything we do and that our operations continue to thrive.
More About The Role: As a People Delivery Partner, you’ll be responsible for the end‑to‑end delivery of people plans across Supply Chain and Logistics. Working on a portfolio basis, you’ll lead the execution of cyclical people activity such as talent reviews, reward and bonus processes, performance cycles and peak recruitment, alongside supporting wider change and transformation initiatives. Day to day, you’ll work closely with People Partners, Centres of Expertise and senior operational stakeholders to ensure people activity is well planned, clearly communicated and delivered seamlessly. You’ll balance multiple priorities, respond to operational pressures, and adapt delivery plans as business needs evolve—while maintaining pace, quality and a strong colleague and line manager experience. You’ll also play a key role in embedding new ways of working, supporting organisational effectiveness projects, and using people data and insight to monitor progress, manage risk and continuously improve delivery. This role requires flexibility, delivery discipline and confidence working across geographically dispersed operational teams.
More About You: You bring a practical, delivery‑focused approach to people partnering, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex, fast‑moving environment. You’re comfortable working with project plans, governance and data, and you know how to keep momentum while proactively identifying and resolving issues. You’re confident influencing without formal authority, building credibility with operational leaders, and staying focused when priorities shift or timelines change. Collaboration is central to how you work. You build effective relationships, share best practice and contribute to a positive, high‑performing team culture. You role‑model our values by taking ownership end‑to‑end, looking for ways to simplify and improve how things are done, and keeping colleague and line manager experience at the centre of your decisions. Learning agility and confidence supporting people‑impacting change will be key to your success in this role.
Essential Criteria:
- Demonstrable experience delivering cyclical people activity (for example talent, performance and reward processes) within a complex organisation.
- Proven ability to plan, track and deliver people or change initiatives to agreed timescales, identifying and managing risks and issues.
- Evidence of collaborative and effective stakeholder engagement in operational or geographically dispersed environments, demonstrating the ability to influence and deliver outcomes.
- Demonstratable experience analysing and using people data to inform decisions or shape people activity.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent demonstrable HR generalist knowledge, skills and experience.
- Due to the field-based nature of this role a Full UK Driving Licence is required.
