Android Engineer

As an Engineer (Android), you’ll be part of one of our Engineering teams, applying architectural and engineering principles to define and deliver technology that will better customer experiences, improve efficiency and reduce business costs, helping us to lower prices. With your technical craft, curiosity and experimentation, you’ll use judgement to apply specific techniques to deliver outcomes that support our customers.

More about the role:

· You\’ll be part of the design and development of the large-scale Groceries Online Android app, striving for high quality, highly performant and testable code

· You’ll develop within a codebase utilising a mix of technologies such as Kotlin(including coroutines and flows), RxJava, Dagger2/Hilt, Android Architecture Components, and Jetpack libraries

· You’ll work in a cross-platform team, working on our Android app while collaborating closely with iOS developers to ensure feature consistency

· You’ll have opportunities to work on other technologies, including KMP(Kotlin Multiplatform) and server-side development

· You’ll contribute to the entire product development lifecycle, from roadmap, to delivery, to potential decommissioning too

· You’ll be part of a collaborative team that highly values empathy and team spirit

More about you:

· Have proven experience developing features on a commercial Android application within a team environment

· You are adept at writing quality, testable Kotlin code

· Strong knowledge of architectural patterns (MVI/MVVM, DI, clean architecture) and modern Android development practices

· Have a keen interest in testing, having experience writing and maintaining unit and UI test suites (including Espresso and Appium)

· Experience and working knowledge of connecting to multiple varied API services, asynchronous networking in Android, solid understanding of API design patterns and practices

· You’re driven and constantly striving to improve your knowledge. You keep up to date with industry trends and emerging tech.

· You have a passion for delivering solutions to customers, owning the whole Software Development Lifecycle

· You’re empathetic and work well with others, and you’re highly collaborative in your ways of working

· You have experience with agile delivery methodologies.
