We’re looking for a dynamic professional to join our Clothing team and help deliver safe, high‑quality products to customers. As an Assistant Technologist, you will collaborate with suppliers, product developers, and cross‑functional teams to uphold safety, compliance, and quality standards, while supporting our Net Zero commitments and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you’ll do
- Support the delivery of all aspects of Sainsbury’s Brand product and technical plans for your assigned product area within the Clothing team.
- Work closely with suppliers, product developers, trading, supply chain and retail teams to ensure consistent production of high‑quality products that meet specifications, standards and policies.
- Collaborate with the Technical Manager to drive the quality and technical agenda and achieve Net Zero commitments through suppliers.
- Manage projects for product quality improvement, implement and challenge quality standards, and create action plans to reduce complaints.
- Develop supplier targets, maintain accurate product information, drive improvements in the customer offer and engage actively with the supply base.
- Monitor supplier compliance through site visits and audits.
- Apply your technical expertise, commercial awareness and strong communication skills to ensure product safety, quality and success.
Who you are
- Highly capable professional with a strong focus on safety, legality and quality of products.
- Strong technical expertise and ability to collaborate with suppliers, developers and teams to deliver products that meet specifications and standards.
- Proactive, takes ownership of complaint‑reduction plans and works closely with suppliers to deliver on them.
- Experienced in technical and manufacturing processes with commercial awareness to manage supplier performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to achieve targets and support the brand’s reputation for quality and safety.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable product knowledge in slippers or related product areas, with understanding of product construction and quality standards.
- Experience in product testing processes, with the ability to support or interpret testing requirements and outcomes.
- Experience within clothing, footwear, or accessories categories, with transferable knowledge of garment or product development.
- Ability to work in a hybrid office environment, with base location at our Coventry - Ansty Park Store Support Centre.
