Online Assistant in Whitley Bay

Responsibilities

• Pick and assemble online grocery orders at a fast pace while maintaining high accuracy and quality standards under time pressure.
• Select the best products for customers, making quick, sensible substitution decisions when items are unavailable.
• Use handheld technology to follow efficient pick routes and consistently meet performance targets for speed and accuracy.
• Prepare and organise orders for dispatch, including handling and moving totes up to 20kg safely and efficiently.
• Support van loading and maintain flow in the dispatch area to ensure orders leave on time.
• Proactively identify and resolve issues (e. g., stock gaps, damaged items, bottlenecks) to keep the operation moving.
• Work across different parts of the online operation as required, including picking, marshalling, and dispatch support.
• Act as a backup delivery driver when required, ensuring safe, professional, and efficient customer deliveries.
• Key Qualifications
• High‑performance mindset; comfortable working at pace in a high‑volume, target‑driven environment.
• Consistently maintain performance across a full shift, not just in short bursts.
• Physical capability to handle and move loads up to 20kg repeatedly; high energy and stamina.
• Proactive and self‑sufficient; take ownership of tasks and act without waiting to be told.
• Strong decision‑making; confident making quick, practical decisions such as substitutions and problem‑solving on the shop floor.
• Team‑focused; collaborate effectively and support others to maintain flow during busy periods.
• Driving capability (essential): hold a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months, confident driving regularly, and aware of time pressures.
