Responsibilities

  • Drive a 3.5 tonne van to deliver products to customers’ doorsteps on time and in good condition.
  • Complete vehicle checks to ensure the van is organized, clean, roadworthy and that delivery cases are secure before driving in varied locations and conditions.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting with questions and keeping customers informed of any delays.
  • Learn to use new technology to perform the job effectively and drive a large vehicle in diverse locations, from residential streets to country lanes.
  • When not driving, support efficient operations in the stock room or on the shop floor.
  • Develop strong knowledge of products, services and promotions to provide informed recommendations.

Role Context

  • Working in our stores as a Home Delivery Driver, you’ll deliver Argos products to customers’ doors and provide an industry-leading, fast-track service.

Qualifications

  • Friendly and professional with a genuine enthusiasm for helping customers and delivering the best doorstep experience.
  • Proficient in driving a large vehicle in varied locations, delivering to a range of residential properties.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, physical environment, using initiative to solve problems, often independently but also as part of a team.
  • Flexible and reliable to work across the week; full training will be provided in a variety of skills to enable learning and development.
  • Comfortable using new digital tools and technology.
  • Must be over 18 and hold a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points.
  • Online driving risk assessment is required as part of the interview; a driving assessment will be conducted when joining.
  • Right to Work in the UK is required.
  • Ability to work varied shifts across the week and three shift blocks during the day: 05:00–13:00, 13:00–18:00, 18:00–22:30. Hours are scheduled to fit availability and may vary; overtime opportunities may be available, including support for your local Sainsbury’s.
