As a Commercial Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role as the primary interface between Finance and business owners for Sainsbury's Financial Services products. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support and challenge to ensure the preparation of reliable and timely financial plans.
  • Driving income generation and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Conducting financial analysis for business cases and ad hoc insight.
  • Representing finance at product review meetings.
  • Presenting financial performance and analysis.
  • Co-ordinating and processing information for the annual planning cycle.
  • Developing models to measure the impact of changes on budgeted balance sheets and P & L positions.
  • Utilising large data sets to optimise product profitability.
  • Supporting requests for ad hoc analytics.
  • Deputising for the Head of Finance in key committees to discuss overall financial performance within the Financial Services division.

Your role will be instrumental in contributing to the strategic financial planning and decision-making processes within the organisation.

You are a highly skilled professional with a proven track record of delivering value through insightful analysis and financial expertise. Your ability to challenge and collaborate with stakeholders in a constructive manner, coupled with your proficiency in building complex financial models and working with large data sets, enables you to drive informed decision-making and optimise product profitability. With strong communication skills and strategic thinking, you effectively translate complex finance and data analytics into actionable insights, supporting the business in achieving its financial goals and objectives.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or demonstrable experience operating as a Commercial Finance Manager with accountability for financial analysis and decision support.
  • Proven ability to build, maintain and enhance complex financial models using Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel.
  • Demonstrable experience analysing large and complex datasets to identify trends, solve business problems and support decision-making; Power BI and SQL experience is desirable.
  • Evidence of delivering measurable business value through financial analysis, insight generation and recommendations.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex financial, data and analytical information to senior stakeholders, including providing constructive challenge and influencing business decisions.
