Overview
As Senior Buyer, you will lead the Utilities and Bathroom category, shaping the range and strategy to deliver profitable sales, margin and market share across digital and stores. You will manage high-profile supplier partnerships, launches, pricing and promotions, collaborating with Merchandising, Digital, Marketing and Finance. You will translate customer and market insight into actionable plans, coach Buyers, and adapt quickly to trading conditions. This is a fast-paced, commercially driven role with a clear growth impact.
Responsibilities
- Lead Utilities and Bathroom category strategy, range architecture and partner with brands like Minky and Brabantia
- Oversee product selection, pricing, launch planning and promotional activity
- Manage strategic supplier relationships and commercial negotiations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Merchandising, Digital, Marketing, Finance, Product Development, Technical and Global Sourcing
- Analyse trading performance, customer trends and competitor activity to adjust plans
- Coach and develop Buyers and Assistant Buyers to meet commercial targets
Key requirements
- Buying experience in a non-food omnichannel retail environment with accountability for category decisions
- Track record of delivering sales and margin targets via category, pricing, range or promotions
- Experience leading commercial negotiations and developing supplier plans with major brands
- Experience analysing customer, market, competitor and trading data from multiple sources
- Experience leading and developing Buyers or equivalent commercial team and setting objectives
- Knowledge of legal and ethical requirements relevant to retail Buying (competition law, anti-bribery, IP)
