SailPoint is searching for an experienced commercial counsel with 2-5 years of legal experience to provide legal support as part of the commercial counsel function in EMEA. We are looking for a candidate who is a quicker learner, can operate independently, is effective at working cross-functionally in a rapid-growth environment, and is excited about being part of a growing legal team at a fast-growing public technology company.
Responsibilities:
- Support EMEA Contracts team to assist the sales team and partner team for SaaS and Software company.
- Assist with the negotiation of all types of customer and partner commercial agreements, focusing on outbound SaaS and Software commercial agreements such as MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, and DPAs, and advise the business on risk.
- Possess a minimum working understanding of privacy regulations.
- Assist in improving existing contract templates for the EMEA region.
- Collaborate with the global team to identify opportunities to centralize knowledge and create scalable processes to increase visibility and expedite communication, alignment, and execution of the legal function.
- Assist the Commercial Legal Team to improve, develop, and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with complex regulatory requirements in EMEA in support of our GTM efforts.
- Prior experience in negotiating contracts with European public authorities in DACH or Nordic regions is preferable.
Qualifications:
- Fluent written and spoken German if based in Germany.
- Fluent written and spoken Swedish if based in Sweden.
- Licensed attorney in good standing; qualified in a DACH or Nordic region is preferable.
- Prior in-house experience is ideal; candidates moving from private practice to in-house will also be considered.
- Experience navigating privacy laws and security issues in a commercial negotiation context.
- Experience drafting, redlining, and negotiating complex commercial agreements with a solution-oriented approach.
- Excellent legal and business judgment with the ability to assess relevant/material risks quickly and communicate those risks to business partners in plain language.
- Experience managing workload in a high-pressure environment with competing demands.
- Experience implementing/utilizing contract lifecycle management systems is a plus.
- Experience with SAAS and on-premise software contracts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to operate in a team environment and liaise between multiple cross-functional teams.
- Sound business judgement, and strategic, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
