Summary
The Global Communications Manager supports delivery of the Sail GP’s media and communications activity around the world – spanning events, partnerships, B2B/ thought leadership, internal communications and reporting workstreams.
This is a hands‑on, delivery‑focused role for an organised and versatile communicator who can move comfortably between projects and workstreams, working closely with a variety of teams across the business.
Reporting to the Global Director of Communications & Impact, this is a standout opportunity to build broad communications experience at a fast‑growing global sports league, with exposure to senior stakeholders, live events, global partners and cross‑functional projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide regional and event communications and media support for Sail GP events, including proactive media relations and press office duties, working alongside the wider global communications team.
- Help develop and distribute global announcements and supporting materials, working closely with the wider global communications department and regional teams.
- Lead B2B and thought leadership communications, including conference and award entries, industry announcements and event briefings and ownership of internal thought leadership events.
- Provide day‑to‑day communications support for Sail GP partners, helping develop and deliver partner‑facing communications materials and content.
- Liaise with communications leads across Sail GP's national teams to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated media activity.
- Lead on internal communications, helping maintain consistent, engaging messaging across the business.
- Prepare briefs, key messaging documents, press releases, talking points and other communications materials, including athlete and spokesperson briefing support.
- Act as the dedicated link into Sail GP’s impact team, including owning delivery of the global impact report, ISO 20121 communications requirements and all relevant external messaging.
- Own and maintain core team tools and systems (e. g. Meltwater, Monday. com), keeping the department’s ways of working organised and efficient.
- Support insights, measurement and reporting, helping track effectiveness of campaigns and distribution.
- Act as a key point of contact for reactive and crisis communications, supporting the global director to protect Sail GP's reputation across events and markets.
- Travel to select events, working alongside communications team members on‑site as required, and at Sail GP’s remote broadcasting facilities in London, UK.
What We're Looking For
- Relevant experience in communications and PR, ideally spanning B2B and purpose‑led communications in a similar organisation (sport, entertainment).
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and narrative.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously.
- A proactive, detail‑oriented self‑starter.
- Comfortable owning delivery as well as supporting senior team members.
- Experience managing websites, intranets or CMS platforms favourable.
- A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast‑paced, multi‑stakeholder environment.
- Genuine interest in sport, sustainability and/or purpose‑led business strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of sailing or other racing properties favourable but not required.

This role will be based out of Sail GP’s London offices in Chelsea and operates on a hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days per week in London HQ.
We value an engaged workforce, powered by in‑office collaboration – as such, employees are expected to work primarily from this space plus other Sail GP locations, where required.
This includes select Sail GP events as well as our London‑based remote broadcast studio in Ealing.
