Maintenance Technician Position Summary

Reporting to the Plant Engineer or Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment. This position is responsible for performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment uptime while supporting the company's commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all plant safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements and safe equipment operation.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems, including motors, contactors, relays, and industrial controls.
  • Use testing equipment, including multimeters, to diagnose and verify electrical component performance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment and electrical control systems.
  • Maintain and repair production equipment, including chillers, compressors, process pumps, ink pumps, glue pumps, and related machinery.
  • Operate precision shop equipment such as lathes, mills, and band saws to fabricate or modify parts as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, equipment calibrations, and routine repairs to minimize production downtime.
  • Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Complete maintenance documentation accurately within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Support spare parts inventory management and maintain an organized parts room.
  • Perform maintenance on both production machinery and facility support equipment.
  • Participate in the company's Global Performance System (GPS) initiatives, including audits, continuous improvement activities, pillar teams, and near-miss reporting.
  • Maintain equipment in safe operating condition while supporting production goals.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and flexibility to support production needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

  • Industrial manufacturing experience or military experience maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience diagnosing and repairing industrial equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs and industrial motor control systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including climbing ladders, kneeling, bending, and twisting.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and respond to production needs.

Preferred

  • Experience in blown film, sheet extrusion, flexographic printing, lamination, slitting, or similar converting processes.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to become certified.
  • Experience using a CMMS for maintenance planning and documentation.
