Leadership and People Management

  • To lead the day‑to‑day operations of the Group under the direction of the Managing Director and Nominated Individual.
  • Ensure that all services across the Sahara portfolio are operating in alignment with company standards, policies and procedures to provide the highest standards of care and service determined by the people we support, their relatives, key stakeholders and legislation.
  • Be proactive in identifying any areas of non‑compliance and prioritise the development of comprehensive, time‑bound action plans.
  • Ensure Service Plans are devised and executed, ensuring all targets are agreed by the Board of Directors.
  • Take appropriate and swift remedial action using the expertise available within the Group to performance‑manage managers who fail to meet expectations or objectives relevant to their role and job description.
  • Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement and assurance across all care services provided by Sahara Care Limited whilst embedding a framework that encourages ownership and accountability and promotes innovation and problem‑solving.
  • Uphold the excellent reputation of Sahara Care Limited by challenging poor practice, taking action to ensure any identified shortfalls in performance are addressed, with support from the Directors when required.
  • Lead and assist in investigations of serious untoward incidents, including root‑cause analysis and writing of reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Ensure that any new initiatives by our inspecting bodies are communicated throughout the organisation.
  • Attend monthly Board Meetings delivering a monthly Operational Board report.

Care and Quality Management

  • Through effective quality management, ensure all our service users receive the highest standards of care and service which meets their needs and satisfies all legislative requirements and company standards.
  • Complete annual reports, questionnaires and relevant documentation in line with registration and contract compliance.
  • Ensure training and supervision targets are achieved monthly.
  • Ensure the services are internally inspected on a regular basis, including night and environmental checks.
  • Attend all senior safeguard meetings, contract liaison and key stakeholder events.
  • Ensure CQC and Safeguarding notifications are sent to all relevant parties within expected timelines.

Financial Management

  • To maximise each service’s occupancy to ensure a viable and profitable business.
  • Ensure the company’s financial objectives are met through diligent budget management.
  • Direct managers, review business performance against management accounts information and ensure steps are taken to address any areas of concern, underperformance or overspend.
  • Responsible and accountable to the Board of Directors for the financial performance for all Sahara Care Limited’s services with regard to fee income, occupancy and salary costs.

Training

  • To strategically coordinate the companies' learning and development objectives with the Nominated Individual.
  • Ensure budgets are discussed with managers, and all reports are prepared and provided to the Directors.
  • Secure income generation and tender for annual funding.
  • Ensure all services are supported by a robust training programme that meets the people we support’s needs.

HR

  • Oversee recruitment ensuring all staffing levels are coordinated with the commissioned hours.
  • Oversee all disciplinary, grievance and staff performance issues in conjunction with the Managing Director & Nominated Individual.
  • Actively participate in recruitment and organise staff skills mix in each service.
  • Review the policies and procedures annually and ensure each policy is updated to be reflective of new and best practice.
  • Lead on all marketing strategies ensuring a multi‑dimensional approach.

General

  • The role will require travel across East London and possible surrounding areas (dependant upon organisational growth) to cover the services and further afield for professional development.
  • The post is ‘in service’ and does not align to remote or hybrid working.
  • You will be required to be on call and support the senior managers in any crisis, along with the Nominated Individual.
  • To act as an ambassador for the Sahara Group representing the Company where necessary at events and meetings.
  • To undertake ongoing continued professional development.
  • To uphold the values and ethos of the company.
  • To undertake training consistent with the grade and level of responsibility of the post.
  • To undertake such duties and responsibilities reasonably consistent with the role as may be required from time to time by the Board of Directors.
