About the Role

As a Consultant Radiologist in Breast Imaging at SAH Diagnostics, you will be at the forefront of delivering high-quality diagnostic services integrated within NHS and community environments — including mobile/modular units and Community Diagnostic Centres. You will provide advanced clinical expertise in breast imaging, support service innovation, and contribute to strategic service delivery to help SAH meet its mission of enhancing patient care and pathway outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership & Expert Practice
    • Independently interpret and report on breast imaging studies (mammography, ultrasound, MRI).
    • Perform and supervise image-guided breast procedures (biopsies, localisations).
    • Provide expert clinical consultation and second-opinion reporting across multidisciplinary teams.
    • Participate in breast MDT meetings, contributing to diagnostic and treatment planning.
  • Service Integration & Development
    • Work collaboratively with NHS partners and SAH teams to embed breast radiology services within insourced and mobile diagnostic models.
    • Support operational delivery of Community Diagnostic Centres and mobile imaging units.
    • Contribute to strategic planning, quality improvement projects, and service redesign to address local diagnostic challenges.
  • Education and Workforce Development
    • Mentor and support radiographers, trainees, and multidisciplinary staff within the SAH network.
    • Provide teaching, CPD sessions, and contribute to professional development initiatives.
    • Champion evidence-based practice and promote knowledge-sharing across clinical teams.
  • Research & Innovation
    • Participate in audit, service evaluation, and research aligned with organisational goals.
    • Publish and/or present findings to advance breast radiology practice and contribute to SAH’s reputation for quality and innovation.
  • Governance and Quality Assurance
    • Ensure adherence to clinical governance standards, national breast screening guidelines, and local policies.
    • Contribute to auditing, risk management, and quality improvement processes.
    • Maintain compliance with GMC standards, IR(ME)R regulations, and uphold patient safety.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
  • CCT in Clinical Radiology and entry on Specialist Register.
  • Subspecialisation in Breast Radiology (essential).
  • Prior NHS consultant-level experience in breast imaging and MDT participation.
  • Competence in breast image-guided procedures.
  • Valid DBS Certificate and NHS compliance documentation.
  • Strong clinical judgement and decision-making skills.
