The role of Senior SEO Content Specialist is to develop and execute meaningful and effective content campaigns for our clients to help them achieve their objectives and goals.
Based at our offices in central Harrogate, North Yorkshire, you will be a creative, proactive and organised individual with an excellent eye for detail, a passion for content marketing and demonstrable success in a content marketing role. You will work with and support the content team in creating, maintaining, monitoring and analysing digital content and SEO performance.
Reporting to the Head of Content, you will also build strong relationships with:
- The Content Team
- The Technical Team
- The Paid Team
- The Senior Management Team
- The Administration and Finance Team
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement content campaigns including content creation, on-page optimisation, link building and email campaigns.
- Effectively communicate and present content campaigns to your team and clients.
- Make recommendations to your team and clients regarding content campaign development and direction.
- Research and write engaging content, including blog posts, webpages, product descriptions, press releases and more, for a wide variety of B2B and B2C audiences.
- Proof and edit content for accuracy, readability, brand voice and SEO best practices, and offer constructive, meaningful feedback to peers and to clients.
- Be responsive to constructive feedback.
- Research topic areas and develop client content calendar.
- Create and follow briefs for content plans, including new and republished content.
- Carry out detailed client competitor and industry research.
- Carry out effective keyword research and SERP analysis, including gap analyses.
- Add and monitor keywords in tracking software, e.g. Moz and SEMrush.
- Use SEO software to identify effective opportunities for content republishing, optimisation and development.
- Have an excellent understanding of best SEO practices and apply these to the work being carried out.
- Upload new content and update old content on clients’ sites.
- Select and optimise relevant and effective images for content campaigns.
- Build buyer personas.
- Monitor and analyse content campaign progress and feed back to the Content Strategist and Head of Content, along with recommendations.
- Manage multiple client projects simultaneously while ensuring deadlines are met.
- Build and develop client relationships, ensuring that excellent customer service is delivered at all times.
- Assist with the preparation of report data and reports, ensuring they are timely and accurate.
- Assist with the preparation of presentation material, content and presenting.
- Assist with internal content training for the Zelst team as required to ensure that the Content team and other colleagues have the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their roles to the highest standard.
- Assist with on-boarding new team members.
- Proactively contribute to the wider team with fresh content ideas.
- Ensure accurate completion of time sheets.
- Adapt to and utilise different software systems used to carry out daily work and activities.
- Any other duty that may be required in line with the business needs.
Key skills, experience and attributes:
- Minimum of 1+ years’ experience in a content role.
- Excellent understanding of written and spoken English.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Excellent proofreading and editing skills.
- Experience in creating, assessing and following content briefs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organised and the ability to multi-task, prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Ability to deliver a high level of customer service.
- Good level of Microsoft and Google Suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Docs and Sheets).
- Excellent level of attention to detail.

This job description sets out the scope and main duties of the role of Senior Content Specialist. It does not include or define all tasks which the post holder may be expected to carry out. Duties will vary from time to time without changing the nature of the post or level of responsibility. The post holder may also be required to carry out any other duties as required by their line manager or the Company.
Education: Bachelor's (preferred)
Place of work: The role is an office-based role, with the possibility of also working from home. The role is for 37.5 hours a week, with working hours between 8.00am and 5.00pm with an hour for lunch. Exact hours of work will be agreed before commencement.
Salary: Up to £35k per annum, depending on experience and skill set.
Benefits: 25 days plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 days plus bank holidays with length of service. Birthday day off. Dedicated time for training and development. On-site parking available.
