About our Team: The Journals Editorial department is a vibrant and dynamic team of highly motivated individuals who are passionate about research and publishing. We develop and grow a diverse portfolio of high-quality, valuable journals across the social sciences, STEM fields, and various business models, whilst adapting to a changing market. Our collaborative efforts with external editors, society partners, and internal colleagues in editorial, marketing, and production roles ensure the growth, success, and long-term sustainability of our program. Could you be our new Research Integrity Associate Editor? Are you?

  • Experienced in academic journal publishing or research, with an understanding of research integrity and peer review processes.
  • Able to investigate complex cases, applying analytical thinking and creative problem‑solving.
  • Committed to improvement, with evidence of implementing workflow or process enhancements.
  • Proficient in using online submission systems, with experience of ScholarOne Manuscripts or similar platforms.
  • Consistently accurate and detail‑oriented, able to manage large volumes of sensitive information while meeting deadlines.
  • A strong communicator, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills in challenging situations.
  • Skilled at prioritising tasks and adapting quickly to shifting demands without compromising quality.

Your new role:

  • Ensure timely and fair resolution of publication ethics cases, safeguarding Sage’s reputation and compliance with COPE guidelines and internal policies.
  • Maintain secure and accurate handling of confidential case information, ensuring GDPR compliance and protecting trust.
  • Accelerate case resolution by improving workflows and strengthening collaboration with Editorial, Peer Review, and Legal teams.
  • Achieve clear, professional communication with authors, editors, reviewers, and institutions, resulting in transparent case outcomes and strengthened external relationships.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration with Editorial and Peer Review teams, ensuring publication ethics cases are resolved consistently and without disruption to journal operations.
  • Escalate high‑risk cases appropriately, enabling Sage leadership to make informed decisions and mitigate reputational or legal risks.
  • Contribute to internal discussions and developing resources that improve ethical standards across the publishing community.
