Birmingham is a hub for commercial growth, and at Sage, we believe the best way to launch a career is through direct involvement in how a business actually scales. If you are looking for a role that prioritises your development as a communicator and a leader, we offer a route that focuses on building your commercial instincts and professional confidence from day one.

We are looking for ambitious individuals in the West Midlands who want to understand the mechanics of marketing and business management through a hands‑on, structured approach. This role is about bridging the gap between being a graduate and becoming a decision‑maker. We move away from passive observation and instead place you at the centre of brand activations and client representation. By focusing on how to engage audiences and manage campaign logistics effectively, you will gain the resilience and professional authority that form the backbone of a successful career.

This is a chance to develop a versatile skill set in a setting where your progress is clearly mapped out and your contribution to the team is visible every day.

About Sage

Sage is a marketing and business consultancy based in Birmingham City Centre. We specialise in offline marketing and face‑to‑face brand activations, helping our clients acquire new customers through direct engagement. Our expertise lies in delivering outsourced campaigns for large national and international brands. Working with us provides industry exposure to campaigns for recognised names such as EE, BT, British Gas, E.ON, and Mercedes, giving our team a unique insight into how major corporations maintain their market presence.

The Opportunity

The Trainee Marketing Manager position is a full‑time, permanent role designed as an entry point into our management structure. You will start by learning the fundamentals of our marketing strategies and brand representation. As you gain experience and hit specific development milestones, your responsibilities will expand to include team coordination, campaign analysis, and internal leadership. This is an on‑site role that requires a proactive presence in our Birmingham office and at various campaign locations.

What a typical week looks like

Your week will be structured around a mix of office‑based preparation and live campaign execution. From Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm, you will be involved in morning briefings, skill‑sharing workshops, and direct marketing activities. You will work closely with your peers to coordinate brand activations across the region, ensuring our clients are represented with professionalism. As you progress through the trainee programme, you will begin to take an active role in mentoring newer team members and overseeing daily campaign performance.

Training and development

We provide a structured environment where training is a continuous process rather than a one‑off event. You will receive dedicated coaching and mentorship from senior consultants who have successfully moved through the same programme. Our focus is on practical learning, covering areas such as consumer psychology, public speaking, and project management. We hold regular workshops to ensure you are consistently improving your commercial awareness and leadership capabilities.

Candidate profile

We welcome applications from recent graduates of any discipline as well as professionals in the early stages of their careers. The ideal candidate is someone who is motivated by the prospect of taking on responsibility early and thrives in an environment that moves quickly. You should have a strong interest in sales, marketing, and people management. Most importantly, we are looking for individuals who are excellent communicators and are committed to a long‑term career pathway into management.
