Overview

In this role you will provide practical, outcome-focused legal support to Sage’s Product & Technology teams, helping to design, develop and launch innovative solutions while managing risk. You will partner with product, engineering and GTM groups in a global, fast-paced environment and advise on AI, IP, data privacy, and third-party technology integrations. You’ll contribute to trademark and brand protection and help scale legal services through automation and practical guidance. This position offers exposure to generative AI initiatives and a collaborative One-OGC culture with hybrid working in Newcastle or London.

Responsibilities

  • Provide commercially focused legal support throughout the product development and readiness lifecycle
  • Advise on AI, IP, data privacy, and technology-related legal issues
  • Support compliance initiatives across product, financial services and marketing regulation
  • Partner with product and engineering teams on emerging technologies, including generative and agentic AI
  • Support trademark and brand management activities, including protection, enforcement, disputes and governance
  • Manage trademark records, reporting, templates, playbooks and governance materials
  • Draft and negotiate technology, procurement, partner and commercial agreements
  • Develop practical guidance and self-service resources for business stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to improve legal operations through automation, AI and process optimization
  • Build strong relationships across global business teams as a trusted adviser
  • Champion innovation and contribute to a high-performing One-OGC culture

Key requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with at least 2 years' post-qualification experience
  • Strong commercial legal experience in-house or private practice
  • Experience providing pragmatic, business-focused legal advice in a technology environment
  • Knowledge of IP, data privacy and AI-related considerations
  • Working knowledge of GDPR and the EU AI Act
  • Experience supporting trademark and brand management activities
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and matter management skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication abilities
  • Ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, global and collaborative environment
