About the role
We are seeking a detail‑oriented Rent & Service Charge Analyst to take a key role in setting and managing rents and service charges across our housing portfolio. This position is responsible for ensuring charges are accurate, transparent, and compliant, while supporting the organisation's financial sustainability and delivering fair outcomes for residents.
You will assess management company costs, identify additional services where required, and produce clear, accurate service charge budgets that are easy for residents to understand. You will also play an important role in ensuring our rent and service charge processes align with current legislation, regulation, and best practice.
The role is based in our Northampton office, with hybrid working of three days per week in the office and two days from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and review rents and service charges across all tenures, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Prepare service charge budgets for new and existing schemes, working with colleagues and external partners
- Reconcile actual costs against estimates and produce timely year‑end accounts
- Assess and validate management company costs and identify additional service requirements
- Support the development of service charge budgets for future schemes and business opportunities
- Ensure all rent setting activities comply with legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
- Maintain accurate records and data within relevant systems and spreadsheets
- Identify and implement improvements to processes, efficiency, and data quality
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues across the organisation on rent and service charge matters
About you
- A higher education qualification or equivalent relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of rent setting and service charge processes within the housing sector
- Understanding of current legislation, regulation, and best practice
- Experience of preparing service charge budgets and year‑end reconciliations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g. Pivot Tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A proactive and solutions‑focused approach to problem solving
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others
- Confident communicator with a customer‑focused mindset
- Resilient and persistent, with the ability to build relationships and follow up with stakeholders
