About the role

Sage Homes is looking for a skilled Communications Manager to help deliver clear, accessible and engaging written communications across the organisation. Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will produce and coordinate customer, internal and corporate communications, ensuring everything reflects our tone of voice and brand. You will draft a wide range of materials, gather stories from colleagues, support teams with copy, and help maintain high standards across all written content. This role is hands‑on and delivery‑focused, requiring strong writing skills, sound judgement and the confidence to advise colleagues on effective communication approaches. The role is based in our Northampton office, with regular travel to our London office. We offer hybrid working with three days per week in either office and two days from home.

Responsibilities include

  • Customer Communications
    • Produce clear, accurate and accessible customer communications across the full customer journey.
    • Draft and update letters, emails, newsletters and other customer‑facing materials.
    • Identify gaps or pain points in communication and recommend improvements.
    • Work closely with customer‑facing teams to ensure consistent and timely messaging.
    • Support customer experience projects with high-quality written content.
  • Internal Communications
    • Lead internal communications activity and create engaging content for colleagues.
    • Work across regions and teams to source stories, updates, case studies and imagery.
    • Draft intranet articles, updates and messages for staff.
    • Support internal campaigns and contribute to colleague engagement.
    • Act as the Communications Team lead for Sage Together, our colleague group.
  • Corporate Communications
    • Manage content development for the Annual Report and other corporate publications.
    • Produce written materials for corporate and stakeholder‑facing documents.
  • Tone of Voice & Brand
    • Act as a guardian of Sage's tone of voice, ensuring consistency across all channels.
    • Provide advice and review support to colleagues preparing written content.
    • Maintain and update tone of voice and writing guidelines.
    • Build strong working relationships across the organisation.
    • Work closely with the Digital Content Manager to ensure alignment of digital content.
    • Contribute as an active member of the Communications Team.

About you

  • A communications or journalism qualification, or equivalent experience, ideally in a customer‑focused or housing environment.
  • Experience in communications, with excellent writing skills and the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
  • Experience of producing customer communications across multiple channels.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to make complex information clear.
  • Experience in a regulated housing environment is helpful but not essential.
  • Strong stakeholder coordination skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Organised, collaborative and proactive in solving problems.

We are committed to ensuring you have the best career here at Sage. As well as regular support and guidance from your manager you can expect to receive a variety of learning and development opportunities to support you as you grow within our business. This includes internally and externally delivered development programmes and opportunities to study for professional accreditations and qualifications.
