The EAD DBA Team is responsible and accountable for IT regional and global databases instances. The team ensure our Applications and Services are constantly available to run the Sage businesses. A Sr Database Administrator bridges the technical gaps between Data, Development and Operations by developing, administering, improving database performance, integrity and availability. The Sr Database Administrator is responsible for working across various teams, ensuring databases remain available, secure and performant. To do this the Sr Database Administrator works closely with delivery teams by deploying, administering, monitoring, and improving their databases and integrations. Working with Security, Architecture and Automation subject matter experts, the Sr Database Administrator builds and runs infrastructure, operational processes, infrastructure as code, automation of manual processes & improves operational capabilities. These responsibilities include disaster recovery, high system availability, on-demand scalable solutions, database monitoring, continuous deployment capabilities, etc.,
- Design, implement, and optimize database architectures (on prem and in the cloud) that support business applications and ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.
- Establish and enforce database security protocols, including access controls and encryption standards.
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to improve system efficiency. Identifying issues proactively and mitigating them to avoid customer impact.
- Identify opportunities to lead collaborations with development teams to optimize database queries and application performance (on prem and in the cloud) to improve customer experience.
- Manage database and tool migrations, upgrades, and patch implementations.
- Develop and maintain automated scripts for routine maintenance tasks.
- Leading the team during high pressure incident scenarios, providing technical expertise and advice to the relevant workstreams, as well as driving stakeholder communication.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for critical database support is optional.
- Taking lead on adopting Cloud technology, tools, and processes.
- Ability to build lasting relationships across functions and organisations.
- Coordinate with Operational and Security functions to build a cohesive organization. Ensure the adherence to policies defined by Security team.
