Product Owner - Embedded Accounting
We're hiring a Product Owner to deliver embedded accounting experiences that drive new customer acquisition through fintech and platform partnerships through leveraging the reusable capabilities of the SMB & Accountants Platform.
In bringing together accountants, clients and financial institutions into a single, intelligent experience, improving bookkeeping, strengthening financial habits and simplifying compliance for small businesses, you'll partner closely with internal platform and fintech partnership teams to shape and deliver embedded services capabilities, scaling partner integrations and accelerating launch.
This is a high-impact role defining how accounting, banking and compliance converge into an AI-driven finance platform for SMBs.
*** Please note that this role is hybrid and will require you to work 3 days a week from our Newcastle office. ***
Key Responsibilities
In this role you'll:
Deliver partner-led embedded accounting use cases
- Own the product delivery of core embedded accounting journeys across fintech and platform partners (e.g. banking, vertical SaaS).
- Translate partner and market needs into scalable product requirements, balancing speed to partner value with long-term platform leverage.
- Ensure all solutions are built to "build once, deploy many" enabling reuse across partners, products and markets.
- Partner closely with internal platform teams to deliver consistent and best in class product experiences that can scale globally
Design simple, compliant accounting experiences for sole traders
- Create low-effort bookkeeping and data-sharing experiences that simplify tax compliance for example MTD in the UK, e-invoicing across EU etc
- Translate regulatory and market requirements into intuitive workflows, reducing friction in core jobs (ledger, compliance, reporting).
- Identify and scale opportunities to extend these experiences across priority international markets, leveraging the global platform.
Own onboarding and early lifecycle success
- Design embedded onboarding journeys that deliver instant time-to-value and drive strong financial habits from day one.
- Collaborate with Banking, Embedded Services, and Platform teams to create seamless, unified onboarding experiences across channels.
- Optimise for activation, usage, and retention through AI-driven and agentic workflows (e.g. onboarding, reconciliation, compliance agents).
Drive go-to-market clarity and execution
- Partner with Commercial, Marketing and GTM teams to define and communicate:
- Product vision and differentiation
- Success metrics (activation, attach, retention)
- Launch milestones and enablement assets
- Ensure product decisions directly enable acquisition and expansion, not follow GTM.
Unlock growth and monetisation through embedded services
- Contribute to the next phase of Embedded Services growth, expanding fintech partnerships and embedded distribution.
- Identify and prioritise opportunities to monetise through fintech capabilities (payments, lending, etc.) embedded into accounting workflows.
- Support partner success by improving time-to-market, integration quality, and customer adoption at scale.
What Success Looks Like (Outcomes)
- Embedded partners launch faster with repeatable, API-driven accounting capabilities
- Increased NCA through partner ecosystems, with strong activation and early lifecycle engagement
- Seamless onboarding → first value delivered in minutes (not days)
- Scalable accounting + fintech experiences that extend across markets and partners without rework
- Clear contribution to platform-level growth (ARR, attach, retention)
Requirements
- Experience in Product in SaaS or B2B software; experience with accounting or payroll products is a plus.
- Background in managing roadmaps from ideation to launch.
- Experience conducting market research and competitive analysis to identify unmet needs, trends, and strategic opportunities.
- AI native mindset and experiences in applying AI / agentic experiences to solve customer problems.
- Strong understanding of technical processes, such as APIs.
