Job Description
We\’re looking for a commercially minded and customer-focused Performance Marketing Manager to own and drive the \”In-life\” marketing strategy for our accountant and bookkeeper base.
This pivotal role is all about deepening engagement, driving product adoption and upsell opportunities, and maximising ARR through intelligent, targeted marketing activity. You\’ll lead the charge on campaigns that deliver long-term value, working closely with a cross-functional squad and a dedicated team.
About the role
As the Performance Marketing Manager, you will lead and execute a comprehensive in-life marketing strategy for our Accountant and Bookkeeper audience. You\’ll be responsible for creating and delivering campaigns that focus on onboarding, engagement, cross-sell, upsell, and customer loyalty. From optimising in-product journeys to crafting high-quality content and communications, you\’ll play a central role in maximising customer value and improving the overall customer experience.

Location – This is a hybrid role based in our Newcastle office, with 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
• Own & execute In life marketing strategy & plan aligned to product roadmap, accountant seasonality & KPIs (engagement plan, loyalty, surprise & delight, cross sell & upsell, welcome & onboarding)
• Drive engagement, usage and add ons within the Sage for Accountant and standalone brands platform leveraging marketing technology, data & in journey optimisations to develop personalised targeted comms and campaigns in product (with consideration of how this aligns to out of product communications & plans.
• Lead sub team for In life including Campaign manager & marketing apprentice
• Accountable for In life within Accountant Squad (post sign up) – reporting against performance vs targets, optimisation of activity and working with sub squad to drive improved performance (in product customer experience, product, customer journey mapping, data etc)
• Drive and coordinate optimised, automated base email activity, taking into consideration different customer segments & optimal contact strategy
• Own all base communications to existing accountants and bookkeepers, including monthly segmented communications, newsletters and product service notifications.
• Responsible for all written forms of communication to existing accountants and bookkeepers, ensuring consistency and delivered to a high standard according to internal approval processes.
• Own accountant advocacy workstream, delivering a year-long plan of activity aimed at increasing revenue per accountant.
• Own content development for existing customers, working with Product Marketing and Sales to ensure relevant and engaging content and formats.
• Own data for team including segmentation, selections and briefing to internal teams to ensure maximise opportunity and identify opportunities.
• Ownership of In life and campaign lead metrics and reporting, monitoring activity and campaign effectiveness and driving improvements and optimisation with testing at the forefront.
• Budget and tracking of all owned activities including cost management and Sage for Accountant and standalone brands activations & subs, unit/revenue/MQL forecasting
Key skills and experience
• We\’re looking for someone with a strategic mindset, strong executional capability, and deep customer empathy.
• Experience developing marketing plans that drive measurable outcomes such as ARR, engagement, and usage.
• A strong background in leveraging marketing automation and martech to deliver optimised, personalised in-product experiences.
• Proven ability to lead end-to-end campaign planning and execution, ideally in a large-scale or matrixed organisation.
• Commercial acumen and the ability to manage budgets, KPIs, and revenue targets.
• Experience working cross-functionally to drive campaign delivery and customer experience improvements.
• Confidence with data and segmentation, with a continuous testing and optimisation approach.
• Clear and compelling written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong influencing skills and ability to present ideas and results to stakeholders at all levels.
