Our infrastructure is built on AWS, enabling us to deliver robust, scalable solutions to our clients. The team you will be part of is responsible for designing and building cloud products that support the integration of payroll products with SageHR and other connected services and deliver value to the customer and the business across multiple geographic regions.
Initially, you'll focus on delivering a modular, API‑based suite of UI components that underpins our Embedded Payroll Service. You'll work closely with UX Design colleagues, Architecture and Product Management, before moving on to deliver the overall product alongside Developers and QA Engineers. You'll be part of a squad with strong leadership and a mix of principal, senior, mid‑level and graduate engineers to support your growth‑along with a leader who will invest in your career. This is a hybrid role – three days per week in our Newcastle office.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with UX to guide design decisions and define business requirements
- Work with external parties and internal stakeholders to gather requirements and feed into the UX design process
- Translate UX designs into build‑ready requirements captured in user stories, acceptance criteria, functional requirements and non‑functional requirements
- Understand the importance of legislation in HCM software and translate legislative and compliance obligations
- Help develop and maintain a high‑quality, scalable front‑end application that integrates with internal APIs to deliver a complete solution
- Work closely with Product Management, UX, Architecture, Development and QA to understand and translate customer needs
- Understand API documentation and collaborate with the engineering team to ensure coherent service logic between the API and UI
General Responsibilities
- Participate in refinement sessions and present backlog stories with clear acceptance criteria for discussion and agreement with the engineering team
- Create, share and maintain relevant documentation to support engineering delivery as required
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our software development lifecycle
- Be an active, enthusiastic team player and partner effectively with colleagues to deliver against commitments
- Collaborate with global teams across Sage to define, design, deliver and maintain services across the Payroll and HR business unit
- Support sprint ceremonies such as refinement sessions, sprint reviews when required, and stand‑ups
- Document API dependency mapping, including inputs, outputs and outcomes
- Understand, design and support the building of API‑based backend applications
