The Operations Manager will take a leading role in the day to day operation of the group (Production Solutions Group and The Workshop Stoke), reporting to the Director.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Main Duties

  • Oversee and coordinate the daily operational activities of both PSG and TWS, ensuring efficient use of staff, equipment and workshop resources.

Aswell as monitoring capacity levels.

  • Recruit, manage and develop operational staff across the group, including scheduling, performance management and training.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations across the group; warehouse, workshop and logistics. Including PAT testing and LOLER requirements where applicable.
  • Manage annual operational, controlling costs relating to equipment maintenance, materials, subcontractors and staffing.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, sub rental suppliers to ensure reliable, cost-effective service.
  • Identify and implement policies, procedures and processes across the group in all areas.
  • General
  • To ensure the effective flow of all production and technical information within, across the department and projects.
  • To always implement and track sustainability within the department and model best practice in terms of environmental responsibility.
  • Build and manage excellent relationships with external contractors and suppliers.
  • To engage and contribute meaningfully to development of Production Solutions Group and its subsidiaries Business Plan, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan and Sustainability Plan.
  • To maintain good relations with industry bodies representing the company’s interest within trade union negotiations or other environments in the sector.
  • To uphold and embody the Company’s policies, including but not limited to our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy, Dignity at Work policy and Health and Safety policy.
  • Any other reasonable duties that arise to fulfil the objectives of Production Solutions Group and its subsidiaries.

Skills

  • Exceptional carpentry skills in set design and construction.
  • Demonstratable experience of loading in and out shows from theatres.
  • Basic knowledge of construction drafting.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and procedures including CDM and COSHH.
  • Computer literate on MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to work with and support all other departments.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Auto CAD and Vectorworks.
  • Full clean driving license.
  • First Aid training.
