About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Junior Software Engineer to join our growing technology team. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining our core platform, working on a variety of projects that impact millions of users. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow your skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will be mentored by senior engineers and given the opportunity to contribute to real-world projects from day one.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain features for our e-commerce platform using PHP and Python.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of new systems and features.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving our development processes.
- Work with AWS Lambda and other cloud technologies to build scalable and reliable systems.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues, ensuring the smooth operation of our platform.
- Continuously learn and stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends.
- Contribute to the improvement of our existing codebase and infrastructure.

We actively encourage everyone in the Sportpursuit team to continue to develop and build new skills so a willingness to learn will be important. We do however require a few specifics from you.
To be successful in this role you must have
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
- Experience with Python/PHP or similar languages. Demonstrable personal projects or contributions to open source projects will be highly regarded.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for learning and continuous improvement.
Nice to have but not essential
- Experience with AWS Lambda or other serverless technologies.
- Familiarity with other AWS services (e.g., S3, RDS).
- Experience with testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of e-commerce platforms and processes.
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies.
- A passion for sports and the outdoors!

- Friendly and dynamic working environment with a Core Hours working pattern. Our Core Hours are 10am-4pm. Make up the rest of your time when you like

Salary: £31,000 per annum
