The role: AIM Associate Qualification/Assessment Developer

\’Assessment with integrity\’ is the tagline for AIM assessment. Integrity can be defined as \’someone\’s high artistic standards or standards of doing their job, and that person\’s determination not to lower those standards.\’ Assessment developers are experts in this field; therefore, we are looking for people who can apply their skills and experience to developing diverse materials such as qualification content, case studies, research proposals and scenario-based questions. These materials will be developed in line with AIM\’s general approach to this area as set out in the Qualification and Assessment Development Framework.

Associate Qualification/Assessment Developers use their expertise to develop and review qualification content, ensuring up to date knowledge and skills are the core of learning, develop mark sheets and other assessment materials to ensure that they are valid, reliable, appropriate, and relevant. To ensure that qualification and assessment materials are up to date, inclusive and innovative, associate developers must ensure their assessment development competence and industry knowledge are up to date.

AIM is undertaking a body of review for post 16 qualifications as part of the wider national reform process, and will be looking for industry based specialists to help us develop a range of qualifications from a variety of specialist subject areas.

As an Associate Qualification/Assessment Developer working with AIM you will:

  • Involve employers in assessment design (where appropriate)
  • Review our assessments before use
  • Consistently refine our approach, learning from experience

Associate Qualification/Assessment Developers must:

  • Have recent, relevant occupational experience within the relevant occupation linked to the qualification / assessment they develop (at least two years experience in the last five years)

The following experience/skills are desirable but not essential for this role:

  • Experience of working within the education sector
  • Having experience of assessment or qualification design
  • holding a related qualification (subject specialism based)

Successful developers will be required to participate in standardisation and training activities.

  • Problem solving skills and ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivation and a flexible approach with all stakeholders
