Safran Landing Systems are a global leader in aircraft landing and braking systems, covering the entire life cycle of our products from end-to-end; OEM Design, Engineering & Manufacturing, through to Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO).
We are looking for passionate individuals to join our Assembly Team as a Pipe Assembly Fabricator at our Gloucester site. At Safran, we understand that diversity and inclusion make teams stronger and more effective, and we are committed to fair and equitable employment practices for everyone.
Your Role
You will operate both conventional and CNC equipment to manufacture landing-gear pipe assemblies, including bending, swaging of hydraulic fittings, pressure testing, and other associated processes. All work must be completed in accordance with approved production processes, CNC programs, and strict quality, cost, schedule, and safety requirements. You may also provide line-side support to the Landing Gear Assembly team when required. The role demands a self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills, particularly in managing non-conformances, handling issues, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and reducing production time.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate conventional and CNC machinery for pipe bending, swaging, and hydraulic assembly work.
- Perform pressure testing and acceptance testing in line with production standards.
- Follow technical drawings, specifications, procedures, and test instructions accurately.
- Conduct self-inspection and dimensional measurement of manufactured components.
- Support assembly operations when required.
- Identify and resolve production issues, including non-compliance and handling defects.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities (quality, efficiency, safety).
- Maintain high standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.
- Ensure work areas meet 5S and Lean/6-Sigma expectations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Completed Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
- Understanding of pipe manufacturing processes and associated machinery.
- Knowledge of assembly operations and production acceptance testing.
- General fabrication knowledge and experience with relevant workshop equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Aware of Foreign Object Damage (FOD) risks and prevention methods.
- Familiarity with quality tools such as 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma.
- Ability to self-inspect and perform accurate dimensional checks.
- Basic understanding of NC/CNC programming (advantageous).
