We are actively seeking a Senior Systems & Performance Engineer to join our Wolverhampton-based team, contributing expertise to military and civil actuation projects. This individual will play a key role in an integrated product team, leveraging their experience to autonomously plan and execute Systems & Performance Engineering work packages. Collaboration with the Principal Systems/Performance Engineer will enhance project delivery as needed.

Responsibilities include developing technical specifications and solutions for intricate actuation systems, involving:

  • Understanding, interpreting, and clarifying customer and stakeholder requirements.
  • Establishing system architecture and developing interface definitions.
  • Managing requirements and creating specifications for internal and external suppliers.
  • Utilizing computer modelling and simulation for actuation systems, encompassing hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Supporting product design and development through static and dynamic analysis, including sizing, sensitivity, and robustness analysis, as well as control law development.
  • Conducting trade-off analysis to identify optimized solutions.
  • Producing project deliverables, such as Performance Analysis reports, Requirements Management Plans, System Description Documents, Verification Summaries, and Compliance Reports.
  • Generating and tracking progress on requirements validation, traceability, and verification matrices/summaries.
  • Analysing customer requirements for compliance.
  • Identifying and addressing technical risks and implementing risk mitigation throughout the program's lifecycle.
  • Contributing to the development of standard work and best practices within the function.

Candidate skills & requirements

Essential skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of aerospace (or similar) industry experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering activities and the development of computer simulations for complex hydraulic, mechanical, and/or electrical systems.
  • Demonstrates unwavering personal integrity, operates independently with composure under pressure, and employs a logical approach to technical problem resolution and decision-making.

Desirable skills:

  • Showcasing proficiency in analytical methods, problem-solving, Systems Thinking, System Lifecycles, System Modelling and Analysis, Requirements Definition, and System Architecting.
  • Knowledgeable in hydro-mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems, including control and monitoring.
  • Proven experience in system integration, model verification, and conducting intricate failure investigations.
  • Training provided for daily applications, with a preference for prior experience in IBM Rational DOORS 9.X for Requirements Management and/or Systems Modelling Language (SysML).
  • Degree qualification in Engineering Science.
  • Committed to sharing knowledge within the team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Possesses cross-cultural awareness.
