Role Overview

The Senior Stress Engineer will be responsible for performing preliminary and detailed structural analysis to support the design and development phase for a range of actuation systems, including hydraulic, geared, mechanical, and electro‑mechanical actuators, along with associated subsystems. This responsibility spans the entire product lifecycle, from conceptualization and design to prototyping, manufacturing, integration, and verification testing, through production support. You will be expected to support stress activities using both classical and computational methods, adhering to the highest level of integrity. Additionally, you will collaborate across multifunctional teams and interface with internal and external customers throughout all phases of design, integration, testing, and production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary sizing analysis and provide conceptual design support for actuation systems.
  • Utilize expertise in working with hydraulic actuators, hydraulic valve blocks, gearboxes, ballscrew actuators, and related components.
  • Perform comprehensive classical and computational analysis of mechanical elements such as gears, gearboxes, splines, threads, lead/ball‑screws, and bearings.
  • Evaluate stress, strain, fatigue, and failure modes to ensure structural integrity.
  • Generate detailed technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver technical summaries to internal teams and external clients.
  • Provide support throughout the design, development, and maturation phases of new and existing products.
  • Assist in resolving production issues by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of classical stress analysis methods.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of effectively communicating with diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills in structural analysis environments, including experience investigating complex failure incidents.
  • Detailed understanding of structural FEA, encompassing linear, contact, dynamic, vibration, and non‑linear material/plasticity analysis.
  • Ability to derive margins of safety and damage estimates with a high level of confidence.
  • Good customer‑facing skills, facilitating effective interaction with clients.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • High motivation and a track record of achieving world‑class results within limited time frames.
  • Agility in quickly assessing and adapting priorities to meet business needs.
  • Capability to work autonomously, maintain composure under pressure, and adapt to changes.
