We design, test, manufacture and assemble landing gear used on commercial aircraft including Airbus and Boeing, and UK military aircraft such as the Eurofighter Typhoon. Due to internal changes, we are now seeking a Technical Architect to join our IT team. Reporting to the Safran Landing Systems Director of IS Architecture and Cloud Factory, the Technical Architect designs the organisation's technical infrastructure on premise and cloud computing architecture and strategy. The Technical Architect is responsible for contributing to the Safran Landing Systems Enterprise Architecture strategy and contributes as a domain lead for SLS hosting and technical infrastructure environment. The Technical Architect contributes to the architecture blueprint to deliver highly available, cost-efficient, and scalable cloud environments. The Technical Architect is expected to define architecture to address business goals and outcomes such as the following:
- Increasing speed to market for customer IS solutions
- Driving resilience and agility while improving security and governance
- Cost control and reductions of investment in on premise solutions
- Promoting reusable blueprints and technical architecture patterns
- Assessing cybersecurity and compliance requirements for IS/IT and business projects
Technical Architect Responsibilities:
- Innovate infrastructure, edge and cloud solutions
- Design technical blueprints – Schema – High-level -Low Level Designs
- Lead teams as SME for Technical Architecture and participate in Agile Squads
- Partner with Operations and Information Security and Compliance
- Assess ROI and cost forecasting and management in designs
- Expertise in Cybersecurity frameworks and policy ie. NIST, ANSSI, Defence Cyber Protection Partnership (DCPP) and familiarity with Ministry of Defence guidelines is an asset
- Pitch innovative technical infrastructure solutions
- Challenge traditional design and assumptions from partners
- Bridge business requirements and needs with IS/IT Architecture solutions
- Translate technical information and be able to communicate to non-technical stakeholders
- Manage multiple projects in parallel

- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex business problems
- Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities
- Guidance/Influence: Develop and maintain the overall architecture of technical information systems, ensuring they meet business requirements and industry standards
Job Requirements Required Skills/Experience:
- Experience with edge computing and hybrid cloud and on-premise design to accelerate cloud adoption and reduction of on premise infrastructure needs
- Expert experience in Disaster Recovery solutions and architecting Highly available solutions on premise and in the cloud
- Monitor and evaluate the performance, scalability, security, and reliability of the IT solutions, and recommend improvements or enhancements as needed
- Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in the IT industry and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement
- Strong knowledge of modern security architectures including SD-WAN, CASB, SASE and other Firewall technologies
- Experience with Agile project management methodology including JIRA Kanban
- Strong technical acumen in all of the following: operating systems, data center, edge computing, IaaC, networking and cybersecurity
- Experience with or comprehension of legacy IT systems to design the blueprint to transform the legacy system to the cloud including cloud security expertise
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience in a large Manufacturing organization
- 5 years'+ experience as Technical/Cloud Architect focusing on AWS solutions
Training and Certification:
- Enterprise Architecture certification is required – TOGAF Foundations training is preferred
- Mandatory Certifications one of the following: Networking ie Cisco, Next Generation Firewall, VMWare or other Hypervisor certificates
- Preferred certifications CISSP, CEH, AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Associate, Storage on Dell or Netapp, NG Firewall and advanced Networking ie CCNP
