The Technology Manager works within the Research and Technology segment of the Safran Electrical and Power business to ensure the management of IP, technology roadmaps and strategic relationships with partner organisations across UK aerospace in a consistent, controlled manner in keeping with Safran strategic needs.
Their position is in place to ensure that SEP maintains a series of technology roadmaps that align with long term Aerospace strategy by engaging with critical partners inside and outside of the business, and that in the execution of these roadmaps the IP produced is suitably managed.
- Management of IP topics within R&T segment, including the creation of NDAs and the review of any topics of strategic overlap between companies.
- Creation and management of key strategic relationships with new and existing partners to operate on funded and joint research programmes.
- Management of IP overlap and protection, utilising critical understanding of the Aerospace environment, including the relevant experience and perimeter of other organisations that we may work with or compete with.
- Support to new bids within ATI/IUK funded programmes - providing critical expertise for the creation of bid frameworks and content.
- Review roadmaps published by the R&T team to ensure the alignment between these and overall SEP and ATI/IUK strategy.
- Providing Value for Money (VfM) assessments against new bids, in order to create and validate business cases in front of IUK/ATI/DBT.
- Presentation of any perceived opportunities within the strategic relationships to the R&T management.
- Provide assistance where required to other Safran sites in their bid reviews, facilitated by central R&T.
Qualifications:
- Master degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.
- Strong track record with proven experience, including experience leading and working with cross-functional teams is essential.
- Training and experience in applying IP Management, Bid management and/or writing, management in strategic relationships and negotiation.
- Negotiation Skills: Ability to conduct negotiations internally or externally with customers, partners, competitors, etc. and reach consensus, in line with program objectives.
- Aerospace and/or defence program management experience strongly preferred.
- Experience of working in a matrix organization.
- Experience within an Engineering environment is strongly preferred.
Leadership Skills:
- Strong leadership along with the ability to interface with cross-functional disciplines; using strong interpersonal skills to drive tasks to completion.
Project/programme management:
- Fully understand the project management methodology (management of costs, deadlines, quality, etc.).
Emotional Skills:
- Self-motivated with problem solving and decision making skills. Emotionally resilient and able to work effectively against demanding targets in a complex, multi-disciplined environment.
Customer Management:
- Ability to establish a relationship of trust with a dynamic group of stakeholders.
