Safran Seats is one of the world's leading manufacturers of aircraft seats, for both crew and passengers. 1 million Safran Seats-manufactured aircraft seats are currently in service with air fleets around the world.
The purpose of this role is to assure the quality of products throughout the product lifecycle with Safran Seats GB. These individuals will support the product lifecycle quality assurance through the complete manufacturing process and take responsibility for ensuring that processes and procedures are in place and adhered to in relation to product quality.
Key Responsibilities and DutiesThe specific requirements of the role will vary, dependent on the team that the individual is supporting. The technicians will support FAI (in assembly and MU), Dimensioning, Audit and Compliance, end of line inspection and release, and supplier quality inspection. The skills matrix underpinning this role gives opportunity for individuals to cross-skill, develop new skills and to support the full quality assurance process. All Quality Technicians are expected to:
- Protect customers from non-quality, by ensuring that products and practices comply with regulations, customer requirements and Safran standards and promoting a culture of prevention and anticipation.
- Drive continuous improvement, by capitalising on factual data and feedback and providing the necessary support for all company functions.
- Undertake other reasonable duties, in line with business needs and objectives, which are consistent and commensurate with the overall purpose of the position.
FAI / Dimensioning / End of Line Inspection/Release Inspection:
- Verify the conformity of product and part quality to agreed product quality standards and requirements.
- Work to a standard inspection process in a consistent manner in line with specifications and standards agreed with the customer.
- Ability to use Verniers, micrometers and FARO arm to perform inspection activities.
- Support and assist with customer inspection activities.
- Complete part and assembly FAI's to AS9102 using a wide range of inspection equipment against model data and third angle projection drawings.
- Act as EASA form one signatory for parts and product for release (after training).
- Act as a Certificate of Conformity signatory (after training).
- Assist as a team member in problem-solving activities for manufacturing product quality issues and measures (Using 8D Techniques).
- Support the quality activities within the project timeline.
- Maintain an effective product inspection portfolio.
Supplier Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that the customer's voice is heard and understood by all suppliers.
- Support and promote excellence among all suppliers by implementing the methods and tools recommended by Safran.
- Ensure the quality and compliance of products and services purchased and/or provided by the company.
- Ensure that supplier system, product and process anomalies are addressed, with the necessary assurances that corrective actions are effective.
Essential or Desirable:
- Apprenticeship level or equivalent in an Engineering discipline. (Essential)
- Sound engineering / quality background, with experience of Quality inspection within a manufacturing / engineering industry. (Essential)
- Internal Auditor AS9100 trained. (Desirable)
- Experience within the Aerospace industry. (Desirable)
Essential or Desirable:
- Excellent problem solving skills. (Essential)
- Competent / Confident communicator. (Essential)
- Good knowledge of measuring equipment. (Essential)
- Good understanding of engineering drawings. (Essential)
