What does the role look like? Actuation Systems in Wolverhampton is recruiting Fitter/Testers. This role involves evaluating, assembling, and testing units and sub-assemblies using electrical and some mechanical techniques. The successful candidate will work within a high-precision manufacturing environment, ensuring products meet quality standards and technical specifications. They will also support continuous improvement activities and maintain stock control systems as needed.
What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?
- Evaluate and build units and sub-assemblies using electrical and mechanical techniques following technical drawings, process plans, and acceptance test schedules.
- Adhere to quality procedures and participate in investigations or improvement events as necessary.
- Perform required tests using appropriate test facilities, recording results accurately.
- Complete all assembly and testing processes along the designated route (training provided as required).
- Assemble Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) using Through Hole and Surface Mount techniques.
- Identify and report any non-conformances in manufactured features.
- Participate in electronic fault finding and diagnosis during assembly and testing.
- Support the team leader in achieving objectives and contribute to process improvements.
- Manage stock control systems where appropriate.
- Transport materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
- Engage in Lean Events, workshops, and continuous improvement activities.

Essential skills:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electronics or Electro/Mechanical disciplines.
- Extensive experience in Electronics/Electro-Mechanical Assembly and Testing.
Desirable skills:
- Apprentice trained or time-served background.

- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
