The role: We are seeking a skilled Fitter to join our aircraft manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in interpreting engineering drawings, master layouts, and technical build instructions to assemble aircraft components to a high standard. A strong understanding of aviation specifications and compliance requirements is essential. The role requires the ability to work to strict deadlines while maintaining exceptional safety standards. You will be expected to work effectively both independently and as part of a team to support high-quality, on-time production.

Your Role:

  • Follow and understand working instructions and master layouts.
  • Drilling and assembly of aircraft components to fine tolerances and meeting Customer specifications.
  • Installation of various rivet and fastener types to high degree of quality.
  • Produce quality work that meets engineering definitions and tolerances.
  • Display Lean manufacturing skills to meet production deadlines.
  • Cost awareness in order to meet work package times and consumable usage.
  • Comfortable both working within a team or individually.
  • Good organizational skills, can display good housekeeping to keep a tidy working environment.
  • Active involvement in continuous improvement workshops.
  • Identify & escalate any risks or concerns in relation to product or people safety using the company tools & processes.

SKILLS & REQUIRED QUALITIES:

  • Possess good levels of concentration for drilling, riveting, cutting and using tools safely and accurately.
  • Must be able to understand technical drawings and visualize the appearance of finished products.
  • Has attained a City and Guilds or NVQ level 3 in an engineering or sheet metal discipline.
  • Can demonstrate good practical skills for using tools and equipment.
  • Can communicate with both internal and external customers.
  • Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience of an Aerospace environment would be beneficial.

Required Qualifications:

  • Have a good standard of secondary education.
