We are looking for talented individuals to join our Quality team as a Quality Engineer at our Burnley site. Looking after the people who make Safran great is our priority. We offer a range of flexible benefits designed to support you both in and out of work, including:

Your Role: The Quality Engineer supports the Sheet Metal Operations team in delivering products on time, to specification, and in full compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards. The role focuses on preventing customer escapes, reducing concessions, driving continuous improvement, and strengthening the organisation's Quality Management System.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with internal procedures and external regulatory requirements, including EASA Part 21, EN 9100, and NADCAP.
  • Support and participate in external audits conducted by customers and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, leading 5S initiatives across Sheet Metal operations.

Quality Improvement & Problem Solving

  • Reduce customer escapes, concessions, and non-quality costs through structured quality improvement activities.
  • Lead the development and execution of customer escape prevention plans and concession-reduction programmes.
  • Apply and coach teams in key quality tools such as PFMEA, Gauge R&R, SPC, 8D, and Six Sigma methodologies.

Auditing & Corrective Action

  • Plan, schedule, and manage product and process audits.
  • Drive timely closure of non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate completion of First Article Inspection (FAI/PVI/PPAP) reports for new or modified components.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Support the creation of Quality Plans for new products and new customers.
  • Lead zero-concession plans for products entering service.
  • Ensure quality requirements are embedded early in the development cycle.

Operational Support

  • Collaborate with Operations to eliminate waste and improve production efficiency.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality and reduce cost of non-quality (CoNQ).
  • Operate effectively within the allocated Quality budget.

What You'll Bring

  • Essential Degree or HND in Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
  • APQP Experience or strong oversight of a customer who uses APQP.
  • Proven Quality Assurance experience within a technical or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in complex problem solving and delivery of improvement projects.
  • Practical experience with PFMEA, SPC, 8D, Six Sigma, and other core quality tools.
  • Experience in Quality Planning for new product introduction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership behaviours and the ability to effectively communicate at all levels.

Desirable: French speaking.
