The roleholder ensures that incoming material from suppliers is conforming and in line with the Purchase Order requirements. This is important to ensure non-conforming material can be identified and actions taken at the earliest opportunity and not during the build process. The Logistics Inspector also acts as the Authorised Release signatory for stating that a product, a part, or a component was manufactured in accordance with design data.
Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming goods that require inspection as per the Inspection Plans set up in SAP by the Quality Team.
- Inspect sub-contract work in accordance to the works order instructions.
- Perform checks using appropriate, calibrated measuring tools to validate accurate inspection checks, including use of CMM where required.
- Accurately record inspection results and produce reports where required.
- Re-inspection of material in stores when required.
- Management of containment activities within stores:
- Raise Non-Conformance notifications for any non-conforming parts found in goods in or stores.
- Ensures that non-conforming material is segregated and containment actions are carried out.
- Key stakeholder on the MRB (Material Review Board) for non-conformities.
- Raising and signing authorized release certificates in line with airworthiness standards (Form1).
- Management of bin locations and stock transfer accuracy.
- Approval, creation and maintenance of GRIPS.
- Review supplier queries and ensuring timely closure of actions.
- Play an active role in the advancement of metrology with the logistics function.
- Respond to nil hour returns (NHR) and management of D01 / D1 gates.
- Maintain inspection equipment in line with calibration procedures.
- Goods receiving into the site (direct and indirect) carrying out the relevant transactions in SAP.
- Take and sign for deliveries at Goods In.
- Actively participate in improvement activities (i.e. 5S, ISID, EDI etc.) to ensure team standards are met.
- Support delivery of other assigned logistics tasks.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working within an aerospace inspection environment or equivalent.
- Understanding of CAA and airworthiness regulations preferred or experience of working within a controlled environment.
- Experience of working with warehouse systems, SAP desirable.
- Knowledge and experience using measuring tools.
- Understanding of warehouse principles including FIFO.
- Knowledge and experience using CMM, preferably with knowledge to create programmes.
- First point of escalation for Goods In query resolution.
- Demonstrated experience of delivering improvements in daily work.
- Experience with tooling calibration procedures preferred.
- Demonstrate awareness and understanding of HS&E working practices within a warehouse environment.
- Ability to interpret technical, regulatory and engineering documentation accurately.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact and communicate with all levels across the organisation.
- Competent use of Excel and Word and confident with general computer use.
- Good attention to detail and ability to work accurately and efficiently to meet internal targets.
- Ability to operate general office equipment such as copy, label machine & count scales.
- Able to lift up to 25kg with suitable manual handling equipment following safe working practices.
- Fork Lift license desirable or willingness to obtain one.
- Able to follow and work to company procedures.
- Able to follow priorities set by the business.
