The Junior Quality Engineer supports the Operations Quality function by ensuring compliance with quality standards and processes across manufacturing activities.

The role focuses on non-conformance management, product disposition, production quality engineering support, and procedure control, contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Non-Conformance Management
  • Support the identification, documentation, and investigation of non-conformances within production.
  • Assist in root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methods (e. g., 8D, 5 Whys).
  • Ensure timely containment, corrective, and preventive actions are implemented and tracked.
  • Maintain accurate records within quality management systems.
  • Support trend analysis to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Product Disposition
  • Participate in material review board (MRB) activities.
  • Support evaluation and disposition of non-conforming products (use-as-is, repair, rework, scrap).
  • Ensure dispositions comply with engineering, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Liaise with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure effective decision-making.
  • Ensure traceability and documentation of all disposition decisions.
  • Production Quality Engineering Support
  • Assist in monitoring production quality performance metrics (scrap, rework, yield, defects).
  • Support implementation of process controls and quality checks in manufacturing.
  • Participate in shop floor activities to ensure adherence to procedures and quality standards.
  • Help drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve process capability.
  • Support validation of corrective actions and process changes.
  • Procedure Control & Management
  • Support the creation, review, and update of quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation.
  • Ensure procedures align with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Maintain document control processes, including version control and distribution.
  • Assist in internal audits to ensure compliance with procedures and quality systems.
  • Promote awareness and adherence to procedures within operations teams.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvement actions.
  • Participate in cross-functional improvement projects.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, supply chain, and quality teams.
  • Support communication and escalation of quality issues.
  • Provide guidance to shop floor personnel on quality-related matters.

Experience

  • 0–3 years of experience in quality engineering, manufacturing, or operations
  • Exposure to quality systems and manufacturing environments preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Basic understanding of quality tools (8D, FMEA, SPC, root cause analysis)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS)

Desirable

  • Knowledge of industry standards (e. g., ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar)
  • Experience with Lean / Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt is a plus)
