Job Summary

Join our Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) team and play a key role in shaping the sustainability agenda across SSGB.

As the Environmental & Sustainability focal point, you will lead initiatives that improve our environmental performance, reduce carbon emissions and embed sustainable practices across our Engineering and Manufacturing operations.

You will take ownership of the SSGB carbon reduction programme, working collaboratively across our sites and functions to identify opportunities, deliver measurable improvements and drive a culture of environmental responsibility.

From monitoring and analysing energy consumption to introducing innovative approaches to reduce our environmental impact, you will have the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to our sustainability ambitions within a highly regulated aerospace engineering and manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop, coordinate and implement strategies and policies to promote environmental initiatives.
  • To develop and implement strategies for low carbon reduction across all scopes.
  • Encourage the use of renewable and sustainable energy resources within an organisation or community and raise the profile of energy conservation
  • Research and introduce lower carbon/VOC chemical and material substitutes
  • Develop environmental and low carbon reduction promotional activities and communications
  • Monitor national environmental legislation and Safran environmental objectives and ensure compliance.
  • Liaise and negotiate with contractors, the building supplies industry, council services and other relevant organizations for sustainable materials and products
  • Keep accurate records and regularly collect energy and waste monitoring data
  • Liaise with Safran Group and Safran UK on collective energy contracts and incentives.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure environmental compliance
  • Lead environmental, low carbon and sustainability internal and external training
  • Promote the Safran Corporate Social Responsibility Policy and its environmental and CO2 reduction commitments.

Essential

  • An accredited environmental qualification or relevant equivalent.
  • Strong numerical and data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret information, identify trends and use data to support informed decision-making.

Desirable

  • Experience working in environmental and sustainability roles within an industrial, engineering or manufacturing organisation.
  • Experience using project management tools, techniques and methodologies to deliver improvement initiatives.
  • A degree or recognised professional qualification in an environmental, sustainability or related subject, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A formal project management qualification and practical experience managing projects through to successful delivery.
