Overview

As Manufacturing Engineer, you will support the development, industrialisation and optimisation of manufacturing processes for aerospace components. You will be the technical focal point to Operations, drive process improvements and ensure safe, repeatable production with compliant documentation. You’ll lead root-cause analysis, support readiness for new equipment, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Your work helps deliver efficient, compliant manufacturing and supports Sa fran’s mission of safe, sustainable aviation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical contact for Operations on manufacturing processes, addressing issues and bottlenecks
  • Create and maintain process documentation (work instructions, routings, PFMEAs, control plans, layout drawings)
  • Develop, industrialise and control manufacturing processes for safe, repeatable production
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions using structured methods (8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa)
  • Define rework instructions aligned with technical requirements
  • Ensure manufacturing readiness for new equipment, tooling and layouts including validation studies
  • Manage tooling for production, including tool specification and asset registries
  • Lead the introduction of design and process changes into production for in-service products
  • Coordinate cross-functional reviews and participate in programme meetings and customer interactions when needed
  • Maintain compliance with aerospace, regulatory and internal standards (AS9100, HSE, Safran)
  • Lead QRQC and MRB investigations and ensure timely actions and closure
  • Contribute to Production System standards and risk assessments (ergonomics, 5S, PPS, A3)
  • Identify and implement Lean and Six Sigma improvements to reduce waste and improve quality
  • Monitor KPIs and support cost-reduction through process efficiency

Key requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related engineering field
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in a regulated industry
  • Proficiency in CAD, CAM and process simulation tools
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • Experience with ERP/MRP/MES systems and manufacturing documentation (BOMs, routers)
  • Proven project management skills
  • Experience with NPI and continuous improvement in a complex component manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Experience deploying APQP standards and tools
  • Experience with assembly manufacturing processes and mechanical/electrical/hydraulic products
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Good analytical problem-solving approach
  • Strong planning, prioritisation and communication skills
  • Experience leading technical support teams and cross-functional problem-solving
  • English proficiency
