We are currently looking for a passionate and collaborative Automation Technology Engineer to join our team at our Gloucester site to continue our digital transformation of our industrial systems across our facilities.

Your Role

As an Automation Technology Engineer, you'll be part of a small but critical and high performing team responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and continual improvement of our Manufacturing Control System (MCS), supporting 130+ industrial assets. You'll optimise our industrial PLCs, HMIs, and databases—ensuring robust data quality and structure. By coordinating closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Quality teams, you'll enable data-driven decisions across our operations.

Key to your role is collaborating with IT to evolve our industrial IT infrastructure, ensuring cybersecurity and reliability while supporting continuous improvement and the smooth delivery of new industrial equipment projects.

Candidate skills & requirements

Essential:

  • Experience and qualifications in Industrial Automation Technology within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven skills in programming languages used in Automation (e.g., PLC programming, ladder logic, HMI/SCADA scripting, SQL)
  • Familiarity with technologies such as SCADA/Historian (with WinCC Siemens), process control (MES), industrial networks, and related protocols (OPC, Modbus, TCP/IP)
  • Experience in configuring network communications (protocols, switches, VLANs, etc.)
  • Database management experience (on-premises and/or cloud-based)
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience in IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) and cybersecurity

Desirable:

  • Experience with the deployment and configuration of manufacturing IT infrastructure
  • Cybersecurity qualifications
  • Previous involvement in continuous improvement or technology transformation projects
  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to share best practices within an international network
