In order to develop and expand the capabilities of SAFRAN Engineering Services in the UK, we are looking to recruit an Industrial / Manufacturing Engineer to work on legacy projects. This position will be based in Pitstone and will be employed on a fixed term contract for 18 months. The Industrial / Manufacturing Engineer will play a crucial role in the development and improvement of manufacturing processes. This position focuses on driving efficiency, enhancing quality, and reducing costs in manufacturing operations across various projects.
The role involves collaborating with cross‑functional teams to develop and implement innovative manufacturing solutions that align with Safran’s operational goals and to facilitate the implementation of APQP processes. Your responsibilities will include conducting assessments, using problem‑solving methodology, participating in process design, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. The individual will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to develop and maintain effective processes that enhance product reliability and customer satisfaction.
In this role, you will facilitate continuous improvement initiatives, evaluate manufacturing processes and workflows, provide technical support to production teams, and manage tooling and equipment requirements for optimal production capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement and implement changes
- Design, evaluate, and optimize manufacturing workflows and layouts
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop process documentation and standards
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Support the implementation of new technologies and methodologies in manufacturing
- Act as a technical resource for troubleshooting manufacturing issues
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) to track performance and improvement
- Participate in cross‑functional project teams to drive continuous improvement activities
- Lead APQP activities and ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements
- Coordinate the APQP process from product design through to production and delivery
- Provide training and guidance to team members regarding APQP methodologies
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency
Requirements
- Proven experience in a quality engineering or industrial engineering role, particularly in aerospace or a related field
- Strong understanding of APQP processes and methodologies
- Strong industrial background
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams
- Familiarity with industry standards and quality tools (FMEA, 8D, SPC, etc.)
- Ability to analyze data and metrics to drive decision‑making
- Ability to train the trainees
- Experience managing projects and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Motivated and excellent team player
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a commitment to quality improvement
- Be located in the UK and can provide evidence of the right to work in the UK
