In order to develop and expand the capabilities of SAFRAN Engineering Services in the UK, we are looking to take on a Senior RAMS Engineer contractor for 6-12m Inside IR35. A Senior RAMS Engineer is required to provide advice and support at all levels on the safety and reliability, maintainability and product quality so that aircraft systems comply with the relevant airworthiness requirements for both in-service and new programs. Also to provide advice and support to the design and specialist teams so systems are developed in line with applicable regulations and standards.

  • Co-ordinates RAMS activities on allocated programs or projects. Provides advice to Business and customers on safety.
  • Influence product designs by providing design recommendations to improve product reliability, safety and maintainability.
  • Support and influence the system design with required documentation for airworthiness certification.
  • No financial responsibility.
  • No direct reports.
  • Will discuss Safety and Reliability issues directly with Customers on allocated programs.
  • Also, work with Safran RAMS specialists across the division.

RAMS role:

  • Provide RAMS support to allocated programs or projects.
  • Supports Business Development team on RAMS related matters in bid proposals.
  • Provides advice and guidance on the safety, reliability, maintainability and testability aspects of the design of products at equipment as well as systems level.
  • Produces RAMS deliverables (i.e. documentation and analyses) for allocated programs, working closely with the relevant Lead Engineers to achieve the customer milestones for each allocated project.
  • Performs the various analyses such as the FMEA, Reliability Predictions, Common Mode Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, maintainability analysis, System safety analysis, fault tolerance analysis, MSG3 analysis etc.
  • Discusses Safety and Reliability issues with Customers on the allocated programs.
  • Performs Risk Assessments as required by the Business for potential safety issues.
  • Provide relevant safety advice to others to enable product designs to be certified for airworthiness.
  • Deliver the Safety and Reliability documentation and perform relevant analyses to meet customer's schedule and requirements.
  • Working independently to deliver Work Packages for both RAMs and Systems liaising with Project Managers and Design Engineers as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Aeronautical, Systems or other appropriate professional qualification with 3 or 4 years' experience in similar role.
  • Thorough understanding of the safety process and related analyses.
  • Detailed knowledge of Electrical Generation & Power Distribution Systems.
  • Good understanding of the Systems Engineering processes and its application to the product lifecycle.
  • Ability to make decisions with limited or contradictory information.
  • Good time management with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Good stakeholder management skills and experience of building effective customer relationships.
  • Good analytical skills and self-motivation.
  • Ability to motivate others.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
