We are looking for a sub contractor (Inside IR35) to work at our Gloucester site for a 3-6 month duration, so you need to be available to start within the next 3 weeks and can work full time in Gloucester. Sponsorship of a visa will not be considered for this role, so please only apply if you have the right to work in the UK currently.
The role will provide support to the Assembly Methods team to lead and deliver a tool to assemble axle and boogie. As the Tooling Engineer, you will be accountable for designing, developing and managing the manufacturing/commissioning of the tooling — to ensure on-time, high-quality products. Your expertise in engineering principles and tooling design will directly contribute to this project. You will work in close coordination with the Assembly Methods team and cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, procurement and supply chain.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop advanced tooling solutions to support manufacturing processes, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify tooling needs and integrate solutions seamlessly into production workflows.
- Conduct tooling feasibility studies, cost analysis, and performance evaluations to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed designs and specifications for tooling components.
- Train and mentor production staff on proper tooling usage and maintenance procedures.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies that can streamline processes and improve overall productivity.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Catia) and engineering analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of materials and their properties related to tooling applications.
- Ability to analyze complex engineering problems and develop effective solutions.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Deep expertise in tooling design and manufacturing.
- Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies, such as additive manufacturing and automation could be an advantage.
