Role Context and Purpose

The Actuation Systems Business Unit has recently been acquired by Safran from another Aerospace and Defence organisation. As a result, Actuation Systems is developing its own SAP capability to operate and support a standalone ERP environment.

The SAP Business Analyst will support the SAP Finance Lead in promoting SAP best practice across the Business Unit globally, improving process consistency, reducing technical debt and maintaining high-quality data for business decision-making.

The role will support several stages of a long-term SAP programme. The initial phase will focus on testing, implementing and stabilising a standalone SAP ECC environment cloned from the former parent company's system. This will also involve the Business Unit taking ownership of SAP processes and support capabilities previously provided by the former parent, including AP/AR support, Master Data, Security and Authorisation Design.

Once the ECC environment is established, the role will increasingly support preparation for the planned migration to SAP S/4HANA in 2029/30. This will include analysing current processes, gathering and challenging requirements, identifying opportunities for standardisation and simplification, and helping define future process and system requirements.

This is not a full-time SAP configuration role. The SAP Business Analyst should understand configuration concepts and the impact of proposed changes, while detailed configuration, development and transport management will be carried out by third-party SAP specialists.

What You'll Bring:

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience using SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA in an end‑user environment, with practical SAP FI/CO experience and a good understanding of integration with wider business processes. Experience of related modules such as SD, MM, PS or PP would be beneficial.
  • Strong end‑to‑end process thinking, with the ability to understand cross‑functional dependencies and the wider impact of changes across processes, data and financial outcomes.
  • Good working knowledge of finance and accounting processes, gained through practical experience and/or a relevant qualification such as AAT, CIMA, ACCA or ACA.
  • Experience analysing and documenting business processes, including process mapping using BPMN or another recognised standard.
  • Ability to gather and challenge business requirements, investigate SAP issues across process, master data, configuration, access, interfaces and technical areas, and communicate clearly with both business users and SAP specialists.
  • Experience supporting system or process changes, including testing, defect resolution and user acceptance testing.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work across multiple functions, sites and countries while recognising valid local and statutory requirements and opportunities for greater consistency.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Hands‑on SAP configuration experience, or a good understanding of configuration concepts and their impact on business processes.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, engineering or Aerospace and Defence environment, ideally within a multi‑site or international SAP landscape.
  • Experience of SAP separation, implementation, migration or other major change programmes, including preparation for S/4HANA.
  • Experience working with third‑party SAP support providers, Super Users and business process representatives.
  • Experience of functional, integration, end‑to‑end and user acceptance testing, including test preparation and defect management.
  • Understanding of SAP interfaces and connected applications such as PI/PO, MES, tax engines and reporting platforms.
  • Experience simplifying or standardising SAP processes and reducing unnecessary customisation.
