The SMS Manager role is a nominated post holder for all of Safran Electrical & Power UK Ltd's approvals under UK CAA & EASA Part 21J (Design), P21G (Production) & Part 145 (Maintenance) and takes responsibility for Pitstone and Twinsburg's Safety Management System (SMS). The SMS Manager's priorities are to develop, supervise and maintain compliance of the safety management processes and procedures within the organisations Safety Management System (SMS). The SMS Manager is also seen as the facilitator for changes necessary to effect safety and airworthiness across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Full implementation of an SMS across both Safran Electrical & Power sites (Pitstone & Twinsburg).
- Promote safety awareness within the two organizational sites.
- Ensure that safety management has the same or higher priority level throughout both organisations as any other management and operational processes.
- Implementation of a standardized process for embedding demonstration of compliance with airworthiness requirements across all projects across both sites.
- Facilitating training to increase awareness of airworthiness issues across both sites.
- Manage all aspects of the organisations SMS, including full development and implementation of a SMS across Safran Electrical & Power (Pitstone and Twinsburg).
- Monitoring the effectiveness of SMS.
- Initiating corrective actions when necessary.
- Providing safety reports on SMS performance on a periodic basis.
- Providing safety advice to top management and proposing corrective actions on safety related-issues as needed.
- Ensuring that safety-related documentation and records are available and up-to-date via coordination of the weekly PIC meetings.
- Monitor the reliability of SEP products and ensure actions are taken to correct any potential impairment of airworthiness safety.
- Collate, coordinate and analyse all occurrence reports from across both sites.
- Main coordinator with the authorities for MOR's.
- Providing safety advice and mentoring to management, staff and contractors.
- Maintaining a safety reporting system to identify and manage safety related hazards and risks.
- Investigating or coordinating the investigation of accidents and incidents.
- Identifying and often facilitating ongoing staff training to support SMS objectives.
- Overseeing internal and external safety audit programs.
- Maintaining the company's emergency response plan.
- Promoting general safety awareness and the development of a healthy safety culture within the company.
- Providing management with data to assess the performance of the SMS and areas where improvement is required.
