Scope of Responsibilities
The responsibilities may cover the entire project or a specific module, with team size varying accordingly. Ensure all mechanical design work complies with company, airframer, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Design and detail modeling of various suite components to meet program requirements.
- Produce designs meeting specified cost and weight targets.
- Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers.
- Participate in Design Reviews during each phase of NPI.
- Select and apply appropriate materials and processes.
- Ensure integration of design elements within the product.
- Review engineering packages.
- Participate in product validation (prototyping, testing, DFMEA).
- Contribute to development of Best Practice guidelines.
- Perform additional tasks outside normal duties as requested.
Job Requirements
Qualifications: Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering, or equivalent apprenticeship with extensive experience.
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 or similar 3D CAD and PLM systems.
- Understanding of tolerances, manufacturing processes, and OEM installation requirements.
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods like sheet metal fabrication, plastics vacuum forming, CNC machining.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Experience with Boeing, Airbus, or similar OEM specifications.
