The Perceived Quality Engineer is responsible for defining, elevating, and ensuring the highest standards of perceived quality in our premium class aircraft seating products. The engineer acts as the key link between industrial/product design, technical architecture, and engineering to deliver and uphold customer-focused perceived quality expectations.
Responsibilities
- Drive Perceived Quality: Set targets, create and maintain the Product Acceptance Document, and analyse design choices to maximize customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate & Influence: Work in a cross-functional team (up to 20 people) including designers, engineers, suppliers, and Class-A modellers. Advocate for best design standards and manufacturing methods.
- Lead from Experience: Gather and share lessons and benchmarks, resolve design risks, and propose improvements based on robust analysis and customer-oriented thinking.
- Be the Customer Champion: Engage with customers to converge on expectations, conduct Perceived Quality (PQ) scorings, and ensure that every product touchpoint shines - visually, audibly, and tactilely.
- Promote Excellence: Share a Perceived Quality mindset across the team, participate in network meetings across Safran Seats, and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- A relevant degree (or equivalent qualification/experience) in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline.
- CAD skills, ideally with Catia V5.
- Strong ability to analyze aesthetic, tactile, auditory, and visual aspects that shape end-user quality perception.
- Creation and maintenance of Product Acceptance Documents, scoring, and validation of perceived quality targets.
- Experience working with Class-A surface modellers, product designers, and engineering teams to challenge, steer, and validate design decisions in line with quality standards.
- Capability to collect, synthesize, and share best practices and lessons from previous projects or competitors.
Desirable
- Previous exposure to aerospace or regulated industries.
- Understanding of aircraft interiors.
