What does the role look like?
We are seeking a proactive Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to drive continuous improvement and ensure supplier performance meets our quality, cost, and delivery standards. This role focuses on retrospective APQP activities - analysing and improving existing supplier processes, validating quality controls, and implementing robust corrective actions to enhance product reliability. The ideal candidate will have a solid quality engineering toolkit, a problem-solving mindset, and the confidence to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders alike.
What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?
- Lead retrospective APQP reviews to assess supplier product and process performance post-launch.
- Drive root cause analysis and ensure sustainable corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Evaluate and develop supplier quality systems using tools such as FMEA, PPAP, MSA, Control Plans, 8D, and SPC.
- Conduct supplier process audits, capability studies, and performance assessments to identify improvement opportunities.
- Support change control processes and ensure all supplier changes meet quality and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Procurement, Engineering, Operations) to align supplier quality initiatives with business objectives.
- Support supplier onboarding, qualification, and risk mitigation activities.
- Maintain documentation and metrics to track supplier performance and drive accountability.
- Conduct audits for QMS compliance.
What will you bring to the role?
Essential skills:
- Proven experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer, Quality Engineer, or Manufacturing Quality professional within an engineering, automotive, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and core quality tools (FMEA, 8D, SPC, etc.).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable skills:
- Hands-on experience with retrospective quality improvement projects and process validation.
- Good ability to read engineering drawings.
- Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar standards.
- Exposure to Lean / Six Sigma methodologies.
- Be able to periodically travel.
